GTECの結果が出たので、それを基にカウンセリングを受けた。
どれもターゲットスコア(テストを受ける前の質問項目から計算されるらしい)を上回っていたけど、やっぱりインプットよりアウトプットが弱いし(だからスクールに行くことにしたのだけど)、特によりネィティブが使用するナチュラルな表現を出来るようにすることと発音なのだな。カウンセラーと相談の上、学習目標を「完結、明確、効果的かつ洗練されたスピーキングとライティング」とカルテに書いておいてもらう。カウンセラーは当初いい点数なのに何を望んでいるのか?という感じだったけど、「日本の会社でも新入社員と役員ではスピーチや文章のレベルが違う」と説明したところ、わかってもらえたようだ。
ということでカウンセリング後の授業ではさっそく細かく文章の添削が入った。普段スピーキングでは冠詞や分詞等ごまかしちゃう部分も多いのだけど、容赦されなかった。今度からも気をつけよう。
授業の後
中上級者がぶつかる壁を破る英語学習最強プログラム
という本を買い、苦手意識の高い語彙力の増強のためにこの本を参考に以下を買った。
Longman Handy Learner's Dictionary of American English
そして電子辞書も最高の物に買い換え。画面はカラーだし、イディオム辞書や句動詞辞書もついてる。

コストとパフォーマンスの計測のため、7月22日の受講開始日からあまり日が経たないうちにGTECテストなる、ベネッセとベルリッツが開発した能力判定テストを受けてきた。
リスニング、リーディング、スピーキング、ライティングと全てそろってる。受験前にざっとGTECのウェブページは見ておいたつもりだったけど、受講してみると、時間が足りなくてびっくり。最初のリスニングのうちの2グループはわからないうちに最後の問題がスキップされてしまった。「これはやばい」と残り問題と残時間を示すバーを確認しながら、慌てて問題を解く羽目に。英語の文章は普段から読んでいるつもりだけど、時間制限をつけてはいない上、語彙や文法を確認したりするので、早く読むのには慣れていない。文章題はパラグラフの一行目をまずは読んで、問題を見てからまた本文を読むことにした。
ライティングはグラフを基に顧客にレポートを書く、学校での態度に問題がある生徒の保護者への連絡、スピーキングは職務態度の注意をする上司、新人にプレゼン資料の改善点を注意する先輩(注意・指導ばっかりだな)という問題。最後の各コマのストーリーを説明するものは、結局4分も時間が余ってしまったけど、注意に「過去形で」とあるのをすっかり忘れて現在形で説明しまったし、もう疲れたのでさっさと終わらせてしまった。
リスニングとリーディングは即座に結果が出た。

どっちも芳しくないけど、リーディングが200点届かず・・・参ったな。
・5月末で3年間勤務したMを退職した。昨今流行りの法的には会社都合退職。きっかけをもらえて良かった。
・6月14日から以前勤務していた会社に戻った。恩師のP氏の勧め。前回Mに転職する際は意見を取り入れるには遅すぎたので、今回は早めに相談したところ、戻るよう諭された。
・以前の会社に戻ってみると、自分の英語力と理想の差にイライラ。今日、5月に体験レッスンを受けたベルリッツにプライベートレッスンの申し込みに行った。40レッスン35万円弱なり。祝日にもレッスン入れられるよう、キャンペーンなし。大体40レッスンから60レッスンで1レベルあがるという計算らしいので、現在のレベル7から1年以内に自動レベルアップではなく実力的にベルリッツ最高位のレベル10に上げる。3ヶ月で1レベル。今日は英語書籍や雑誌を7冊程買い込んできた。
・ベルリッツで学習方法や書籍の紹介プリントがあったので、もらってきた。学習方法は参考になりそう。中国語にも使おう。
・ピアノレッスン前にスタジオを借りて約2ヶ月ぶりでピアノに触った。やっぱり前より下手になってる。楽譜を読むのも一層遅くなってる。でも、次の使用者に催促されるまで、集中して練習した。やっぱりピアノは楽しいなぁ。もっといいピアノに変えたら練習する気も上がるかな?その前に部屋の掃除だな。
・右の首筋を原因不明(医者からはストレスと言われた)で痛めたり、風邪を引いたり、「計るだけダイエット」や「筋トレ」も中断、体重は上がったり下がったりして結局元のまま。どか食いも治らず。
